SAVE SEAGRANGE PARK
STOP BRICKFIELD REZONING

13:30pm 15/03 vote on motion won 22 to nil

AGAIN the county manager of Fingal County Council has recommended the rezoning of part of Seagrange Park for high density housing. In his soon to be displayed mangers draft plan for the next county development plan the lands at Brickfield / Seagrange Park South is set to lose its amenity / open space zoning, clearing the way for multi storey development along the DART line.

The county has hundreds of thousands of acres of land already zoned residential that will not even be developed on in the life span of the next development plan. Baldoyle AMENITY LANDS are a finite resource that WE MUST NOT LOSE.

In 2005 the County Manager is on record answering a question about Seagrange Park
"It should be noted that the park is low lying and will remain subject to flooding. Raising the land would result in any flood waters causing damage elsewhere and cannot not be considered."

With the November 2009 floods in our recent memory and the fact that building on flood plains is not yet illegal practice despite the utterances on the Minister for the Environment, residents of Baldoyle & Sutton Park must take a stand to save this land from a disastrous development.

Ask your councillors to support the Socialist Party motion rejecting this rezoning. (vote due in the coming weeks), ask them to insure delivery of the support of their party colleagues also.

This is the third time we have faced rezoning on this land in the recent past. Together we have shown that common sense can prevail on this matter. Community unity is key to place pressure on the councillors and political groupings on the council to do the correct thing when they comes to voting on this issue.
